Fingerprint in Sapphire

Fingerprint in Sapphire

These are networks of tiny liquid-filled tubes that closely resemble fingerprints. When sapphires re-crystallize to partially heal a fracture zone, fingerprint inclusions are formed. These kinds of inclusions are rather typical in sapphires, but because they are small, they are not likely to have a harmful effect on the sapphire’s quality.
